  • 16/01/1918 Paul Gielisch founds the company as an average agent in Düsseldorf
  • During the first world war, Paul Gielisch gets actively involved in clearing the river Rhine of war debris using his own ship

He is also called in when vessel collisions occur on the Rhine, organises recovery operations, issues general average statements. He also handles claims involving damage to fine art objects
  • 1956 He passes over the management of the company, which comprises five employees at this point, to his son, Carl, who has already been involved in and learning about the business before completing his university studies
